Remove outer plastic fuel tank cover then remove the two 10mm bolts that hold down front of gas tank next to steering stem.
Then lift front of fuel tank to access the left control switch housing 3 wire connector plug.
Everything on the dash will work as before showing correct speed and gear position* 4wd, and all temp, oil, neutral, and reverse lights but the gear position indicator will flash warning the operator it is in bypass manual electric shift mode. * except early model trx450 es may only show 1st reverse and 5th gear.
