How to install Honda Foreman 450 ES Shift Bypass Kit
Installation guide Foreman Trx450es 1998-2004 Honda Foreman 450 ES Shift Kit.
Remove outer plastic fuel tank cover then remove the two 10mm bolts that hold down front of gas tank next to steering stem.
Then lift front of fuel tank to access the left control switch housing 3 wire connector plug.
While lifting the front of the fuel tank locate the 3 wire connector that is located under front of the gas tank.
Next to the upper frame rail under a rubber flap.
Its located on front LEFT side on early model 450ES or front RIGHT side on later model 450ES.
Unplug the factory 3 wire connector (black/red white/blue & white/yellow) and connect matching 3 wire connector on the shift kit.
Mount relays on upper right hand framerail. Next connect the round 2 wire plug on the kit to your shift motor matching connector on right side frame rail.
Plug in your shift motor plug to the matching round 2 wire connector on the shift kit connector is located on the lower right frame.
Route the harness on the upper right frame rail securing any loose or extra wiring.
Route under air box tab mount to prevent pinching wires putting on the seat.
Then connect negative black and positive red leads to your battery.
Secure all wiring and relays to the frame or main wire harness keeping it away from hot or moving parts.
Everything on the dash will work as before showing correct speed and gear position* 4wd, and all temp, oil, neutral, and reverse lights but the gear position indicator will flash warning the operator it is in bypass manual electric shift mode. * except early model trx450 es may only show 1st reverse and 5th gear.
